A Bit About Us
Here at MYFAM, we see value in each individual. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in 2020, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Organization upon: support, empowerment, and progress.
Learn more about our story, mission, vision, and how we go about making the changes we want to see.
Our Story
MYFAM —Muslim Youth and Family Resource —is a community organization that was created based on a need in the Twin Cities Muslim community. In response to the exponential rise in opioid-abuse related deaths among our youth, community leaders had a strong desire to unite and discuss this matter. Following, many Imams from across Minnesota gathered to plan and create action steps to solve this issue. A task force was thus formed which comprised of diverse stakeholders —including medical and mental health experts, law personnel, community activists, religious scholars, mosque leaders, and parents to solve these community-wide issues.
Our Vision
MYFAM aims to provide education and resources to Muslim Youth, Parents, and Islamic Leaders that builds awareness about the risks and consequences of substance abuse faced by youth in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.

Our Mission
MYFAM's mission is to prevent substance abuse among Muslim Youth in the Twin Cities.
